Purpose
On May 23, 2025, Executive Order 14300, “Ordering the Reform of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission,” directed the NRC to address a wide range of activities, including reforming and modernizing the NRC’s regulations and associated guidance documents. By letter dated July 31, 2025, the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) provided specific recommendations for implementing the executive order, including recommendations for enabling faster deployment of modern technology while preserving safety. The purpose of this meeting is for the staff to present its plan for evaluating and identifying actions for implementing the DI&C recommendations and for NEI to summarize the recommendations and the associated basis for each recommendation.
