Discussion:

On January 17, 2002, Carolina Power & Light and Progress Energy announced
several promotions affecting management staff at the Brunswick and
Robinson Nuclear Plants.

Jeff Lyash, formerly the Brunswick Director of Site Operations (DSO) was
promoted to Vice President of CP&L's Transmission Department effective
January 14, 2002.  Neil Gannon, formerly the Brunswick Plant General
Manager, will replace Jeff Lyash as Brunswick DSO effective immediately.
Bill Noll, formerly the Brunswick Operations Manager, will replace Neil
Gannon as the Brunswick Plant General Manager effective immediately.

Tom Walt, formerly the Director of Site Operations at the Robinson
Nuclear Plant, was promoted to General Manager of the Fossil Generation
Department's new Western Region.  A replacement for Tom Walt will be
named at a later date.
