On July 31, 2017, South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) announced that it had stopped construction of V.C. Summer Units 2 and 3, as documented in a letter dated August 17, 2017.

The NRC ceased inspection and Construction Reactor Oversight Process activities for V.C. Summer Units 2 and 3 after the July 31 announcement. This page contains information related to V.C. On August 3, 2022, the NRC made the finding that the acceptance criteria in the combined license for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Unit 3 was met in accordance with Section 185b. of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 52.103(g), as found here. This finding effectively transitioned Vogtle Unit 3 from the Construction Reactor Oversight Process to the Reactor Oversight Program.
